Feng Shui Your Home!
Wealth, Wisdom, and Prosperity with these Feng Shui Home Basics!

Exploring the ancient tradition of Feng Shui we discovered the truly complex and intricate principles that govern the vibe of one’s home.  Feng Shui is about interpreting environments. Practitioners use a number of different approaches to connect with the energy or “feel” of a place and fine-tune it to make it work for those living and working there. The theories of Feng Shui involve a very holistic view of life in which the heaven, earth, and entities of life are part of one system.

The goal of Feng Shui is to work toward achieving harmonious order with each other, ourselves, and the natural world. This philosophy is called the Way or the Tao. In order to achieve harmony, a balance must be established. Balance is the unending struggle of positive and negative forces, Yin and Yang, to assert their dominance.  Yin and Yang are opposing but interdependent concepts- without the idea of cold we would not be able to describe heat. At their extremes they change into each other; ice can burn and sunstroke suffers shivers. The aim is to achieve a balance between them in our lives and our environments. This is what Feng Shui hopes to accomplish. This balance is acquired through the recognition of Chi. Chi, although quite understated in Western Philosophy, is the life force of all animate things, the quality of the environments, the power of the sun, the moon and weather systems, and the driving force in human beings. The purpose of Feng Shui is to create environments in which Chi flows smoothly to achieve physical and mental health and therefore prosperity and success.

Feng Shui achieves a natural balance in your home by incorporating earthen materials, rich and subdued colors, and a flow of energy. Practicing Feng Shui in the home rejuvenates and revitalizes the soul. Feng Shui expert and author of Feng Shui Your Life, Jayme Barrett, suggests to people that being able to visualize themselves in their future home is the first step. Take a look at a few fundamentals Barrett discusses in Feng Shui decorating.

  • Sunlight. It is important to know how much sunlight you want in the home and where you would like to see the sun rise and set.
  • Nature. Windows open up our home to bring the outdoors inside.
  • Color. Since color has the ability to influence our moods and emotions, it is critical that each of the five elements is represented in the home in a well-balanced way.
